Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya Bir Bikram, MP, June 1971. A group of guerrilla warplanes are planning to attack the capital city of Dhaka. Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Bir Bikram, MP was born on 3rd February 1948 in the Samvartanta Chowdhury family of Mohanpur, Matlab in the upazila of Chandpur district. His father-in-law Ali Ahsan Miah, mother-mortar Moses: Akterunnesa He passed MA in Political Science and Islamic History from Jagannath University and later got LLB degree. Music Pipasu passed Ii Music from Maya Chowdhury Music College.

In 1965, Mr. Chowdhury started his political career through student politics. During that time, he actively participated in various student movements. In 1971, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu jumped into the great liberation war. He did valiant duty as Commander of the Cruc Platoon of the Sector 2 sector. He received the title of 'Bir Bikram' for his contribution in the war of liberation.

Mr. Chowdhury was known in 1972 as a fearless worker of Dhaka City Awami League. Currently he is serving as the general secretary of Dhaka City for the fourth time. Besides, he is serving as a member of the central executive committee of Bangladesh Awami League. In 1979, he was a convener and member of the Steering Committee of the National Coordination Committee of the Ghatak Dalal Eradication. He was arrested on 15 August 1975, when the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu was killed on Swaruparib, he was arrested with the national leader of 4 leaders. After three years of imprisonment, he was released by the High Court.

Members of the famous Chowdhury family and relatives of Matlab upazila have been working as longtime representatives of the region. Mr. Maya Ali Chowdhury's father late Ali Ahsan Mia was elected as the elected representative of Mohanpur union of Matlab upazila for 30 years. Mr. Chowdhury was elected MP for the first time in the year 266 Chandpur-2 Matlab North in 1996 and the second time from the same seat in 2014.

As a member of the cabinet he was appointed on 31 December 1997 as the state minister for local government, rural development and co-operatives. He has been the Minister of State for Shipping since 1998-2001. He is currently serving as Disaster Management and Relief Minister.

Founder of more than one school-college in the Maya Chowdhury area as a public figure. He is the founder of Matlab Uttar Upazila, Matlab Municipality and Khongargar Municipality. In particular, he played a special role in development of the communication system by constructing many roads, pools and culverts in the Matlab North and South Upazilas.

Alongside politics, Mr. Maya Chowdhury is involved in trade and commerce. In his life, he is the father of two sons and 1 daughter.
